Dreadline Express Review — Szamer

I loved this, did I get stuck a few times trying to get answers from people? Yeah of course but I still loved the process and the reward after. Dreadline is a fantastic psychological horror with a very unique card mechanic. The world built around the train is incredibly interesting and the passengers make it even more so.

The card mechanic is fun to use, the art is a perfect match for the style of the game and it's incredibly rewarding when gaining new cards, especially late in the game. A lot of cards can feel worked for and that made it so rewarding, not only for the collecting but because you know you are still pushing through the story. The only problem I had was with the idea that you can put a few cards together and just guess things that you haven't learnt yet, for example the "password" can be done without actually learning it.

The characters were all good in their own way but some felt weaker then others story wise but that could also be due to how I progressed through the game as there are plenty of routes through the game. The overall art style chosen is perfect in my eyes, it worked really well to convey the strangeness and creepiness of the world.

The story itself felt really deep considering you only travel through a train car. Each character added their own views to the lore and they all connected to each other in various ways that continued to make the game more interesting as you unlocked more.

I can easily recommend this game, the price is fair for the content and length. It's perfect if you like solving mysteries and it's a great experience overall.
