YES, MY HELPERS IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT (+ answers to other questions)
Hey all, Paulo here! I've been getting some questions about this lately (both here and via the support email) so let's cut to the chase: Yes, My Helpers is still in development…

My Helpers is an experimental horror game that hides a group of virtual… "assistants" inside your machine. FIND THEM by combing through your real files, exploring weird applications, and using your computer in ways you may have never expected - and remember: this is just a game.

Interact with your computer's real systems in unexpected ways.
Meet multiple Helpers, each a bit more... interesting than the last.
Find each Helper’s unique applications and learn their real purpose.
Q: I’m a content creator. Is it safe for me to stream/record gameplay of this game?
A: Yes! My Helpers never requires you to access sensitive areas of your machine. Also, at no point during gameplay does the game expose any information on its own. The only parts of your system that will appear on-screen are the ones you choose to open yourself.
Q: How does this game actually work?
A: My Helpers works like any other game, the difference is that its background is “transparent” (which lets you see your computer even when the game is open). Even for the mechanics that are more directly connected to your system, everything is done through public Windows APIs that are accessible to any developer.
Q: How much does My Helpers actually affect my machine?
A: As mentioned above, My Helpers is a regular game. Any “changes” made by the game cease to exist the instant you close it.
Q: Why not use a simulated desktop instead of the real one?
A: The goal of this project is to explore gameplay opportunities that are only possible on real systems. The main inspiration is how Nintendo develops games that make use of all the features of their consoles (often in unexpected ways). In that sense, I believe there’s still a lot left to try with computers as a platform.
