King’s Well

In this kingdom, the punishment for gamblers is harsh: they get thrown into the King’s Well, a massive industrial prison from which nobody can escape… something that you, the newest prisoner, intend to prove false with your cunning strategies and card skills. To survive the brutal challenges you will face, you will have to feed the weapons you have gathered on the King’s Well with your cards to trigger attacks, defenses, and special effects to chain powerful combos. Hopefully you will grow strong enough to be able to climb back to the surface. 

Old Machines, Poker Hands, Risk and Reward 

Every time you face a machine you will have different slots you can activate with one card from your hand, and each of these has different effects: from single attacks to increasing your defense, or other special effects like altering your hand that will let you chain incredible combos. Some slots can be activated with whatever card you want; others have specific requirements. 

Every choice counts, though – every turn, the poker hand that you form with your unused cards will grant powerful effects. You can heal with a Pair, get damage and defence bonuses with a Three of a Kind, use a Straight to increase both your offensive and defensive power… These combinations can also grant you gold with which you can improve your run for long-term benefits, so you will need to walk on a thin, razor-sharp line between short-term survival and taking risks to improve your chances of getting out of the King’s Well. 

A Perilous Upward Path

Choose between four different starting gamblers, like the Iron Veteran or the High Roller, each with their own starting weapons. Navigate a procedurally generated map where every stop is different – face enemies, events, and high-risk choices on your way back to freedom. Pick your route carefully: the way forward may be clear, but survival is a long-short bet. Defeat regular and elite enemies to gain new Relics and powerful weapons; take your chances at events, or spend your gold wisely in the Shop to gain permanent upgrades.
