The modern God of War games' generous parry windows makes them one of the best places to start, letting you confidently deflect attacks, create openings, and immediately turn defense into offense. Successful parries also trigger a brief slow-motion effect, giving you extra time to recognize the opening and transition into a counterattack. That feedback helps build the instinct to react under pressure instead of panicking. The games also throw plenty of projectile attacks your way, making them great for practicing the timing needed to deflect fast-moving ranged attacks back at enemies.

I've told the story on stream a few times: I started playing this game and bounced off early, turned off by some tropes I didn't love in the story. Then my best friend told me he was a little disappointed by the commentary I'd had playing it on stream, that he felt like I was overlooking some important themes and stories around masculinity and fatherhood. So I'm coming back to this, and even with just a few minutes of play I'm glad that this is on the Mixtape.
