Ace Combat 8: Wings Of Theve Brings The Series' Multiplayer To New Heights
What many Ace players have been waiting for.
With its previous trailers and previews, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve already promised a campaign full of great characters and amazing flight moments. However, this week, the Bandai Namco team shared a look at the multiplayer component, which promises to raise the bar for this side of the franchise.
Ace Combat Online will be a separate mode in AC8; this means a different progression system from what players will have in the single-player story. Players will need to create their online avatar first. This online mode introduces an Air Base HUB that can host up to 100 players. From this interactive Lobby, players can rest before launching into the multiplayer modes. The HUB also includes several activities such as arcade games, a jukebox, and the supply shop to buy new aircraft and their parts.

The game will include two online multiplayer modes. First, there is Co-Op Assault, a PvE mode that puts two teams competing for the highest score against a variety of enemies and objectives. Then, Co-Op Warfare brings the PvPvE side, where players fight against each other and other NPC units. Additionally, other limited-time missions will be available at times. Scramble missions will feature four-player Co-Op dogfights, while Emergency Sortie missions can have up to eight pilots fighting iconic weapons and bosses from the series.
The multiplayer will include different types of aircraft such as support jets or fighters, all highly customizable. The online will also include an Ace Pass, the game's take on Battle Passes.
