5 Overwhelming Positive Games Under 500 Reviews
Hidden Gems
What’s the difference between 499 and 500?
For Steam and developers selling their games on the platform – Everything.
Nearly 500 people can agree that your game is the best of the best that year but without that last voice to roll over the double-zeros, you will only be very positive in the eyes of Steam. That 500 review hard line frustrates small developers everywhere who may be sitting on gold.
Let’s make a deal then – try out some of the games below that all have more than 95% approval rating from their players. Put in a short review when you are done. Good. Bad. It doesn't matter as long as that review number goes up. The best thing you can do to help a developer on steam is leave a review.
The next best thing is to tell someone else about the game.

HYPERBEAT
Embark as a knight alone or with friends in an order chasing their potential. Experience a rhythm game with an original soundtrack, in-depth character customization, and a story following an ensemble cast in a tranquil hub world. What will you find at the peak of what you're chasing?
Take Rez, throw in some note hits from Guitar Hero, drop in a dash of Dark Souls for flavor, and what you get is one of the most highly overlooked rhythm games of 2025. During each of the stages, you’ll be screaming through space as beats and long notes fly at your face. A hub world gives you a chance to catch your breath, talk to some locals, and soak in the medieval vaporwave vibes.
Feed the Pit
When did pits get so hungry? Berry Bury Berry’s pit craves fruit while Project P.I.T.T. wants little rubber ducks. At least the spiked-lined hole in Feed the Pit asks for something normal – like human flesh.
A van whisks you away to the woods where you are given clues where your target may be lurking. Find them and bring their corpse back to the van. However, you are not the only hunter in this forest as another creature will look to take you home as a trophy instead. And with the sun setting over the horizon and those trees moving in the distance, Feed the Pit is a game horror fan cannot dare to overlook this year.
Dread Fields
Some may fear what lies in wait among the corn fields. I’m afraid of waiting up at the crack of dawn. And I know what’s in those corn fields – corn spiders.
Dread Fields is a first person cozy(?) horror game that will have you tending the fields, milking cows, and avoiding a demon as you try to keep your farm and sanity together. Inspired by Ukrainian folktales, you’ll accomplish tasks each day and pray that you live through the night. If you like a little horror that tests your nerves and not your reflexes, this game is for you.
Clockwork Cleanup
Think of this as the Factorio of Autobattlers. Set up systems in your little robot by guiding the correct elements through pipes to the correct widgets to battle better or survive a little longer. With so many items to create, retrofit, or try to squeeze into the grid; no two runs will ever feel the same.
And what makes it even better, it’s a free game. You can check out other great titles that won’t cost you a cent here.
TetherGeist
TetherGeist is a challenging precision platformer that rewards practice and perseverance. Guide Mae and her axolotl spirit, Bao, on a wholesome coming-of-age pilgrimage while mastering Astral Projection, a tether that links Mae to her spirit and is the source of her strength.
Precision platformers are hard to love. However, TetherGeist makes a convincing case as one of the best platformers of the year combining split second decisions along with quick movement. Also, death. Lots of death. As the story goes, you have the ability to astral project only a couple of meters while the rest of your class can transport themselves miles away. Jump, dash, crash, and avoid spirit eating monsters as you make it to graduation.
Hermit and Pig
Battle a sinister corporation in this story-rich RPG! Survive fast-paced, turn-based battles and conversations where cringe damage can be deadly. Fight the evils of capitalism with your trusty pig sidekick and join the revolution, old man!
One of the best RPGs from this year may have one of the fewest reviews with less than 200. Hermit and Pig pays homage to Earthbound and Mario RPG through its story and mechanics respectively. You, as the hermit, are off on adventure with your friend, the pig, in order to find a mystical mushroom. Think bugs and other beasties are the worst things in your way? Try social anxiety, fascism, and the ever ticking timer.
If you are looking to dive into the story and skip the combat, the game allows for auto battling and other tradeoffs to make the journey less hectic.
