Sudden Strike

Sudden Strike

Fireglow Games, cdv Software Entertainment, Strategy First

Sudden Strike is a World War II real-time tactics game released by CDV Software and developed by Fireglow. Players command Soviet, German, or Allied forces in combat scenarios that emphasize tactical decision-making over resource management and base building. The game features realistic military physics where terrain, buildings, and environmental factors affect unit performance and combat outcomes. Units can take cover in buildings, conduct reconnaissance, and require repairs when damaged. The expansion pack, Sudden Strike Forever, adds historically authentic units like the 1944 T-34 tank, new desert and snow environments, plus additional campaigns focused on specific military operations. The game includes multiple scenarios across various theaters of war, with players managing combined arms forces of infantry, tanks, and artillery while adapting to battlefield conditions and limited resources.

Night Watch

Night Watch

Nival Interactive, cdv Software Entertainment, Noviy Disk, Future Games, ND Games

Based on the most successful Russian-made movie ever, the Night Watch game asks players to take part in a millennia-old struggle of supernatural forces; a conflict of which ordinary humans are either completely oblivious, or in which they are unwittingly being used as pawns. In the Night Watch universe, there are people among us who appear ordinary, but who are different; they call themselves "Others." These Others can channel magical power as devastating attacks and defenses. Those who support the forces of light are known as the Night Watch, while those that fight on the side of darkness are the Day Watch. These two sides have been locked in an epic battle with the common hope of one ultimately claiming a decisive victory and a right to rule the world.

Hammer & Sickle

Hammer & Sickle

Nival Interactive, cdv Software Entertainment, T-time Technology

Hammer & Sickle is a turn-based strategy game with role playing elements that uses the Silent Storm engine and universe. The year is 1949, with the Cold War between the US and Soviet Union looming and both sides uneasy at the thought of an atomic war occurring. The player takes the role of a Soviet commando on an undercover mission to meet a contact in Allied-occupied Germany. However, things go badly for this meeting, leaving the protagonist without proper support, equipment, and identification papers. Behind Allied-occupied lines, the player must attempt to stop a rogue third party intent on initiating World War III between the US and Russia. Players can choose to start with one of 6 player classes: Soldier, Grenadier, Scout, Sniper, Medic, and Engineer. Additionally, there are opportunities throughout the game to recruit additional characters to round out the party's abilities. The game itself features a branching plot where the player's actions and dealings with NPC's can have serious consequences later on. For example, an intelligent character may be able to talk his way out of a situation, and killing Allied soldiers may prompt more patrols later on and slide the situation towards World War III. Hammer & Sickle also features heavy squad-based combat, and it inherits the turn-based engine from Silent Storm. Players spend Action Points to perform various actions in battle each turn, while the enemy does the same. The engine also models realistic looking physics that feature ragdoll animations, bullet ricochet, and destructible environments. As for available equipment, there are 90 weapons and variants that can be found or bought.
