Axis

Axis

Jamie System Development, Real Networks

Axis is a multiplayer first-person shooter with mechs. However, these are not the big and clunky robots usually featured in mech games, but fast machines which have the ability to float for a short amount of time. This means the game speed is more akin to mid-nineties shooters like Quake. The backdrop story is set in the 22th century when multinational companies fight over resources. The game features overall eight multiplayer modes (e.g. Deathmatch, Rocket Arena or Gladiator) with differences regarding rules and winning conditions, but generally they all involve the player fighting alone against the opposition by running (and floating) around, shooting weapons at other players and picking up power-ups (e.g. armor, shields or damage multiplier) which spawn on the 28 maps. The basic stats of the player's mech, e.g. armor or the boost speed, are determined by the chosen pilot character and the used mech components which can be changed for arms, legs, chassis, head, booster and weapon load-out. All those components have strengths, weaknesses and weight, the latter being the restricting factor. The game also has a single-player mode, skirmish, which consists of playing multiplayer matches against bots. Playing through the scenarios rewards additional mech components for use in multiplayer.

Feeding Frenzy

Feeding Frenzy

Slurp, gulp, and crunch your way all along the Frenzy Coast in Feeding Frenzy! The rules here are simple: Eat anything that's smaller than you and swim clear of everything else. The more you eat, the bigger you get, and the bigger you get, the closer you come to taking on the fearsome Shark King. Starfish bubbles don't help you grow, but they’re an easy way to boost your score. Oysters offer up bonus points in the form of pearls, but be quick or the shell could snap shut with you inside! Nibbling on the tail of a patrolling barracuda is a risky way to earn extra points—he can turn on you in an instant. And the jellyfish - well, it's best to swim clear of them altogether. Did you know that tuna can swim up to 50 miles per hour? Or that a parrot fish can change its gender? Feeding Frenzy includes more than four dozen fascinating fish facts like these - one between each game level.

Apollo Entertainment Software, Real Networks, Akella, Brasoft Produtos de Informática

In the future, mankind has mastered space travel and joined the race for galaxy colonization. Many alien races try to prevent the inhabitants of the Earth from conquering other planets. The Earth has sent a highly trained pilot, 104, to destroy a generator located on the planet Bothrops. This generator sustains the energy for an impenetrable shield the aliens have built around their home base. The mission "Solaris" begins! Solaris 104 is a space shooter, in which players try to eliminate as many hostile ships as possible by using the ship's guns. There is a total of 6 different guns available in the game. Some of the guns can accumulate energy to deliver devastating blows. Players can also "catch" many different items floating around, most of which are power-ups of various kinds (giving extra defense, extra life, etc.).
