Mega Man 8: Anniversary Edition

Mega Man 8: Anniversary Edition

Capcom, Infogrames

With the whole cast assembled for Mega Man's 32-bit debut and an exclusive onscreen Mega Man 8 Japanese art collection, the 10th anniversary edition is the ultimate mega package, the Blue Bomber's back! The two versions of the game are not identical. The Saturn version has two added bosses from previous Mega Man games and a bonus mode with official and fan artwork, voice and music tests, and a secret animation test for the cutscenes. Music tracks slightly differ in arrangement between the versions, with two remixes being added for the extra bosses and the music for Tengu Man's stage being completely different. Mega Man 8: Anniversary Edition was published in North America on both the PlayStation and Saturn in March 1997. The PlayStation version was initially not going to be released in North America, as it was a 2D game at a time when Sony was pushing for games with 3D graphics. Upon learning the game would be released on a PlayStation competitor, Sony changed its mind, approving the game's release in North American on the condition it have content the Saturn version lacked. This resulted in the first editions, branded as the Anniversary Collector's Edition, being enclosed with a 12-page full-color anthology booklet commemorating Mega Man's tenth anniversary. In Europe, the game was to be published by Laguna Video Games, a German game publisher who released a majority of Capcom's SNES games in Europe, before Laguna's owner, Philips Multimedia BV, was acquired by Infogrames in July 1997. The game was released in October 1997 exclusively for the PlayStation.

7 Colors

7 Colors

Gamos, Infogrames

Seven Colors is an simple game of colors and strategy. It's a 2 player game, but you can also play against the computer. As an added bonus for human vs human, you can connect to each other through a network. Unfortunately you can't set the difficulty and the AI is surprisingly good. So you can expect to constantly get beaten until you really get a handle on the advanced strategy of the game. The goal of this game is quite simple, you need to cover 50% of the board with your captured colors. The board consists of small squares of 7 different colors. You can capture more color pieces by selecting a new color on each turn, then all neighbouring pieces of the new color immediately change color to the new one and become yours. Your field then changes color every turn and consumes more and more color pieces until one player get 50%.

Full Metal Planet

Full Metal Planet

Infogrames

Full Metal Planète is a tie-in of a board game of the same name. Up to four players land on a planet with their motherships, trying to gather as much ore as possible within 24 game rounds. This almost sounds like a happy, idyllic round of pick-the-flowers, if it weren't for the truckload of tanks and destroyers that each players happens to have in the cargo area of his mothership. So the players usually spend an equal amount of time picking up ore and bashing their contenders' heads in. The computer game is an accurate conversion of the board game; virtually every feature is present. Strategy is needed to succeed in the game. The only semi-random thing are the tides (high tide, low tide, and something in-between) which can strand boats and engulf tanks, but even they can be partially predicted.

The Light Corridor

The Light Corridor

Infogrames

The player uses a paddle to hit a metal ball down a long corridor. The player releases the ball (which is stuck to the paddle at the beginning of the game) and it will travel down the corridor until it hits a wall or similar obstacle and bounces back towards the player. At this point, the player will need to hit the ball again. If he does not, the ball will hit him and he will lose a life. The game will continue from where the player stopped, and the ball will once again be attached to the paddle. When the ball is travelling down the corridor, the player must walk and follow it. The object of the game is to reach the end of the corridor. Obstacles such as moving elevator-style doors make navigating the corridor difficult and success relies on the player's quick reactions and forward planning. Collectable power-ups make progress easier. The colour of the corridor changes after every four levels, and there are fifty levels in total.
