Bar Games

Bar Games

Accolade

In Bar Games, the player (Or four players) can compete in a single event or a tournament of "Bar Games." Liar's Dice A gambling/poker style dice game, relying heavily on bluffing. Wet'n'Wild The player picks a male or female model, and they walk along a stage. The player controls a character walking above the stage, dropping buckets of water on the model to make their pixelated body parts show through their clothes. Last Call The player is a bartender, and must serve drinks. You must use a power gauge to throw drinks up the bar to customers, before they walk away. Air Hockey Air Hockey. With terrible physics. Pick-Up Artist Probably the most well known of the collection, the player receives a note from a girl, who will be 'waiting at the bar.' The player then must pick a girl, pick random conversation points and try to 'pick her up'. Most of the choices are completely nonsensical, or creepy.

The Cycles: International Grand Prix Racing

Distinctive Software, Accolade

The Cycles: International Grand Prix Racing wraps you around the chassis of the fastest bikes ever built as you compete in the International Grand Prix of motorcycle racing. Laguna Seca. Le Mans. Salzburg. Crisscross the globe to do battle with the world's greatest racers in the sport's premier events. Who's got the guts? Who wants the glory? Who'll hoist the trophy of world champion? The only motorcycle game with a first-person perspective. True racing realism. Look over the handlebars and see the pavement disappear under your wheels. Sense the undeniable rush of full-throttle speed. Race on 15 authentic Grand Prix courses. Tracks like Suzuka in Japan put a premium on handling and acceleration. From Australia to Brazil, you'll file down the foot pegs on the most grueling layouts in motorsports. Choose from 5 different skill levels. Will the racer in front of you blast into the lead or dump his bike trying? Each skill level alters the racing ability of the competition. (Nothing quite like wiping out at 90 mph. How do you say "ouch" in Italian?) Race in 3 different performance classes. Ride a bullet or a bumble bee. Choose either 500cc, 250cc, or 125cc class races. Check out this baby's specs. It's one road rocket with a license to thrill. Compete against 9 of the circuit's best Grand Prix riders. Don't look behind you know but there's a pack of hungry road warriors right on your tail. There guys chew asphalt for breakfast and burp exhaust. Better eat your Wheaties.

Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus

Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus

Horror Soft, Accolade

Elvira II: The Jaws of Cerberus is an adventure/RPG first-person game. You begin by choosing one of the four classes for your character (which determines your starting attributes, such as Strength, Intelligence etc.). For movement, you click the arrows in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Collecting items can be done via clicking on them in the first-person view window and dragging them into your inventory. (You can also click the "room" icon to see all the items that you've found in the room so far.) Should you encounter monsters, you fight by clicking on them. You can choose one of the four tactics (Normal, Defense, Fierce, Berserk) when fighting, and there's a number of different weapons you can find in the game. If you meet someone who doesn't want to murder you (a very rare occurrence) you can talk to him, though conversations are pretty simple and consist mainly of short phrases. As you defeat monsters, explore the game world and cast spells (see below), you get experience. Once you have enough experience, you gain a level, and your attributes improve. Thanks to Elvira's spellbook she gave you, you have the ability to create and cast spells. Some spells can be used to heal yourself, protect you in combat or damage your enemies, other are necessary to solve certain puzzles and make progress in the game. Creating a spell requires you to be of high enough level and to have the proper ingredients, different for every spell. The ingredients are usually gone forever once the spell is ready, so beware and don't use up any items vital for completing the game! Casting a spell requires you to use some amount of Power Points (PP), which regenerate automatically but slowly. What's more, you only get a limited number of castings when you prepare a spell, so don't waste them.

HardBall!

HardBall!

Accolade, Amsoft, Advance Software Ltd., Ballistic, Sony Computer Entertainment

Play is controlled with a joystick or arrow keys and an action button. One of the four cardinal directions is used to choose the pitch, and again to aim it towards low, high, inside (towards batter), or outside (away from batter). The same directions are used to aim the swing when batting. When fielding after a hit, the defensive player closest to the ball will flash to show it is the one currently under control. The four directions are then used to throw to one of the four bases. The game incorporates a pitcher perspective, often used in MLB broadcasts. There are also managerial options available. The player has a selection of pitchers to choose from. Each team member has his own statistics that affect his performance, and can be rearranged as desired. Prior to HardBall!s release, there were managerial baseball games available, such as Micro League Baseball but HardBall! was the first to integrate that aspect with the arcade control of the game action itself.
