Vegas Casino

Coconuts Japan, Midas Interactive Entertainment, Success

Known as "Super Casino Special" in Japan, Vegas Casino is a game for up to four players via multitap comprising Baccarat, Roulette, Let It Be, Black Jack, Video Poker, Keno and Slot Machines. It can be played in two modes, Ranking play or Free Play. In Ranking mode the player enters a target amount to be reached and then plays against their opponents to see who can reach that amount. If a single player plays in this mode the game provides three opponents but the game caters for up to ten players with the game providing the additional AI opponents. Roulette,Video Poker, and Slot Machines in this game mode are played within a split screen. In Free mode there are no computer opponents and the games are the same as the games played in Ranking mode though there are minor differences, such as selecting which slot machine to play, because in this mode the split screen mode is not used at all. There are three kinds of slot machine which can be played for different stakes. Keno is the odd game here because it does not appear on the game menu, instead during any game other than Video Poker a casino hostess pops up in her own little window inviting the player to a game of Keno. If the player accepts they are shown a Keno card on which they mark their numbers after which their current game of Baccarat, Roulette or whatever resumes. A short while later the hostess window opens up again and the hostess gives the good, or more usually bad, news on how good their selections were.

Asteroids

Asteroids

Syrox Developments, Activision, MacSoft Games, Success

Unlike Activision's earlier remake of an Atari arcade classic, Battlezone, this one stays close to its namesake. Take the original, Atari coin-op game Asteroids, add in the features of the Atari 2600 cartridge, then give it 3-D graphics and a bunch of power-ups, and you've got Activision's Asteroids remake. There are three types of ships to choose from, each with different strengths and weaknesses. There are also three skill levels. If you beat the game at Expert or higher, you gain access to a fourth type of ship. All ships features the standard laser, shield, flip (instantly flips your ship 180 degrees), and hyperspace. There are also limited power-ups you can pick up such as GunSat, Mines, Homing Missiles, Plasma Drill, and Trigger Bombs. The game supports either one or two players. In two player mode, the object is to simply outscore your opponent in a random zone and level. You cannot directly kill your opponent by shooting him, but there are other ways.... Lastly, if you shoot the classic-style asteroid in level 15 of the first zone, you'll find the option of "Classic Asteroids" now appearing on the main menu.

SuperLite 3in1: Arcade Game Shuu

Success

Superlite 3 in 1 - Arcade Classic Syuu is a compilation of 3 arcade games released for the Playstation One console: - Superlite 1500 Series - Qix 2000 - Space Chaser 2000 [Superlite 1500 Series] - Crazy Balloon 2000 [Superlite 1500 Series] QIX 2000: Qix 2000 offers both a perfectly-translated version of the original and the insanely fun arrangement version, which updates the graphics (giving the Qix itself a Tempest X3-style psychedelic flair) and adds a few power-ups to the mix. The speed-up power-up makes even slow draw fast, and fast draw faster, but the speed-down power-up negates that effect - and heaven help you if you hit the latter while already operating at normal speed. As with just about every Qix variation since the bizarre Super Qix, claiming space on the playing field also gradually reveals an animè-style picture of a girl; I'll never truly understand why the original Qix underwent this transformation from a game of pure geometrics to a game of revealing pictures, but hey, it really doesn't affect the game. Letting Qix 2000 sit on its startup screen for a bit will eventually show you the original arcade attract mode in both graphics sets (with a few Kanji subtitles here and there - Qix is a rarity in that it originated from Taito's U.S. operation, and therefore it's always only had on-screen instructions in English). The most important new features of the PlayStation version are the vibration function and the new arrangement mode. SPACE CHASER: Space Chaser was an arcade machine made by Taito in the year 1979 which is comprised of 3 boards. Space Chaser was a 2-Dimensional maze racing game. You control your rocket through the maze to pick up the dots while at the same time avoiding the rocket, or rockets, that are constantly trying to ram you. Successfully get through one maze and many more await you. This is good practice for freeway driving in the big city. Space Chaser 2000 is a remake of the classic Taito arcade machine that features the Original mode with the arcade graphics and a new Arrangement mode with enhanced graphics, new backgrounds and vibration function. CRAZY BALLOON 2000: Crazy Balloon was first released in 1980 as an arcade machine by Taito. This is a game of strategy and skill! The object of Crazy Balloon is to guide a delicate swaying balloon through a maze of pin wheel obstacles. The PlayStation version features the dual shock vibration function and 2 different game modes: The original game and an arrangement mode that features remastered graphics. The player will try to get a balloon from one point to the end of a spike-walled maze, without popping it. The balloon constantly sways back and forth so you must be cautious. You cannot take all day because you are timed, as well. To make matters worse, in the later levels, you face moving spikes, Hurricane Man, who will try to blow you into a wall, and magnets that try to drag you into the wall.

A-Train: Trains, Power, Money

Artdink, Maxis Software, Success, Sony Computer Entertainment

Although trains are your primary source of income in the beginning of the game, A-Train is not about building trains exclusively. By utilizing the train industry as well as buses and subways, it is up to you to manage an efficient transportation system for passengers and freighting companies. Everything you do must be well thought out because you're out to make a profit. As soon as you've earned the adequate funds, you have to start making investments. With your money you can buy and sell all types of land and businesses. If you think you're lucky enough, you may opt to play the stock market. Purchased land can be developed in a variety of ways, such as in the development of offices, apartments, hotels, factories, golf courses, and so on. It is up to you to build the largest financial empire humanly possible. As the city develops, new businesses will spring up, such as stadiums, high rise office blocks, and ski resorts. You can also build your own businesses, the success of which will depend on the local population, the presence of competing businesses, and even the changes of the seasons, among other factors.
