Endless tweaking in this bullet heaven builder on wheels
TerraTech Legion has got me completely hooked on Vampire Survivors-like games with a near perfect game loop.
I discovered TerraTech Legion on Eroktic's stream and immediately was intrigued by a unique combination of rogue elements, vehicle building and satisfying movement.
The loop is dead simple: You get dropped on a planet with machines that want to kill you. Drive around in a very basic vehicle while killing them. Machines drop XP or Blocks. After accumulating XP you unlock crates with a random roll of blocks that improve your vehicle. Dealing better damage.
There are plenty of smaller and bigger objectives on the map that help you scale, until you are ready to fight off the bosses that come with unique and challenging fighting mechanics.

Where it gets interesting: The blocks matter a lot. Some being weapons, others being wheels (or wings!), some boosting weapons and stats. The blocks need to be creatively stack so they're not blocking each other, dragging your vehicle down or making you extremely heavy.
The longer you play (there's a special type of tokens to pick up) the better your starting stats and blocks. Unlocking new maps and vehicle types goes pretty rapidly and gives enough opportunity to find your nicest build. Prefer a tank that just drives over everything in melee range? Or rather have a nimble and fast long range vehicle?

TerraTech Legion is a taking the best from the Payload Studios' earlier title TerraTech, turning the open world sandbox into a rogue-like bullet heaven.
The game has a very steady pace, is great to just pick up and put down for one session. After its initial release they rebalanced quite some parts of the game, making the RNG slightly less punishing and giving you more control over the blocks you want to play with. I personally found this a slight downgrade, but it ensures you can turn even your worst session into a more survivable game.
robbietron rates TerraTech Legion as a favorite!
“Vampire survivors on wheels. Incredibly enjoyable rogue-like, with interactive building, stacking, and quite challenging bosses.”
Pretty much everyone I recommended this game too is hooked, and TerraTech Legion has been one of my most satisfying pick ups this year.
Play this game if you like Vampire Survivors (I did the inverse!), BALL x PIT, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, or I guess any survivors game at all!
