Glory To The Heroes Playtest

A Must for your Wishlist

Gringo Chele

I finally got into the Glory To The Heroes playtest, and all I can say is… WOW.

To set the stage, here’s the official description from their page:

“Glory to the Heroes is an immersive PvPvE military simulation of the Russian-Ukrainian War that brings together two things no game has combined before: combined-arms mil-sim combat on the scale of Arma, and the deep character, gear, gunsmithing and medical systems of games like Tarkov. You fight as an ordinary enlisted soldier, not a contractor, on battlefields rebuilt from real terrain and photogrammetry, painted with real buildings and real props: the Dnipro bridgehead at Krynky, the canal district of Chasiv Yar and the Izium machine-building plant. Trench infantry combat, crewed vehicles, artillery and FPV drones meet a persistent stash and an economy where everything you carry can be lost.”

I wasn’t expecting the gameplay to hit quite like this. The whole experience gives strong Arma + Tarkov vibes. Combat is extremely detailed, and you absolutely have to watch your six. Think that figure in the distance is a teammate? Think again. There are no usernames or nameplates floating above heads, just you, a map, and a radio. You’re fighting for one of two sides: Russia or Ukraine.

Important warning before I go any further: This game is not veteran-friendly if you deal with PTSD. You can push through it if you’re able to manage certain triggers, but go in prepared. The first time I heard an enemy groan and moan after being shot and killed, it sent me on a real ride. That’s the price of the realism the game is aiming for.

Speaking of realism, the medical system is no joke. You’ll need to apply tourniquets, bandages, heal specific injuries, and use blood-stopping agents to keep your character alive. Injuries are location-based on the body, so a blood stopper isn’t a magic “fix everything” item. If you’re bleeding in multiple places and keep running, you’re going to bleed out. The detail is impressive and unforgiving.

The game is still in the playtest stage, so of course there are rough edges that need polishing. That’s normal for any playtest. I’m already planning to keep playing when it fully releases. In the meantime, feel free to jump into a stream or two while I play.

If this sounds interesting, head over to their official page and sign up for the playtest, Wishlist the game on Steam, and while you’re at it, drop a like, follow, and join my Discord if you enjoy the content. When I get extra game invites, I drop them in the Discord on a first-come, first-served basis.
